Comfort Over Fashion: What To Wear This Winter

I love the winter months, admittedly yes perhaps the cold weather can be a bit unbearable at times however the cosy nights and the oncoming holiday spirit more than makes up for it all. Nothing beats cuddling up by the warm fire with a nice cup of hot chocolate but do you know what I don't like? The limited wardrobe options that us blokes get lumbered with.

From an endless array of greys and browns to wrapping up in so many layers you're no longer sure if your blood is still pumping! The winter is great but the never ending effort to wrap up warm sucks out all of the fun and leaves us all looking like that kid from Home Alone! I miss the summer, not just because of the obvious but because of the freedom it allows us when it comes to choosing what we wear; we don't have to over think, we don't have to nitpick and we certainly don't have to consider function over fashion but in the winter is that all it should be about?

Us blokes aren't exactly known to be the most fashion conscious but with the winter slowly but surely setting in and the latest mens designer labels and high street brands offering the newest and on point trends, is it time to up our game?

Comfort is always essential in the winter but a sense of style doesn't always have to be compromised, below are my top picks which prove just that...
  • Roll Neck- I remember being constantly forced to wear roll neck jumpers throughout my childhood but believe it or not, today they are back and better than ever. The roll neck jumper is set to be a huge style staple this winter and set to dominate over the traditional crew neck and v necks. Think classic styling; replacing your shirt and tie with a roll neck or wearing it with jeans? The plain and simple isn't enough, block designs and prints as well as striped jumpers too. The roll neck is a must for the cold and will work with just about anything.
  • Quilted Jackets- Made with quality down feathers, quilted jackets have for a long time been the perfect winter warmers but this season think slim cut and fitted rather than the usual puffy. From designer brands to high street labels and available in a range of colours, the newly designed slim fit quilted jackets are ideal for this season. Oozing style yet providing much needed protection from the warmth, you won't be short of options for stylish outerwear.
  • Fur- Although I would never condone wearing real fur, this season it is a massive trend and with faux fur there is no reason why you can't stick to the latest style trend in the most ethical way! From full faux fur lined coats to outerwear with just a slight faux trim; this is yet another classic style that is set to make a very big impact (while keeping you nice and toasty too!)

It is only understandable to get bored by fashion when the winter comes along, after-all our only aim is to keep warm which means countless layers of boring browns and greys...or does it?

Keeping warm and looking stylish is never as easy as it is today; with mens designer clothing labels and the latest high street brands all offering their take on this seasons trends there is no reason why you cannot inject some style into your wardrobe, while wrapping up warm too!
