Brother Mfc-7440n - Ethernet Ready Printer A Force To Be Reckoned With

102 2
For the user that requires a printer equipped with network functionality and a small footprint, and doesnt mind having a Multifunction Center that looks like a Storm Trooper, the Brother MFC-7440N is an option worth considering. The built in Ethernet capabilities edge the unit into a slightly higher price bracket than some models but, if office networking with your printer is a must have, the Brother MFC-7440N should prove to be enough to satisfy the Star Wars fan in all of us.

Emperor Palpetine himself would have been stunned at the outstanding paper handling abilities of the MFC-7440N, which boasts a 35 page auto document feeder, and a fold out rear output tray that, when combined with the single sheet bypass slot, allows a straight through print path ideal for you thicker media, including envelopes and card stock. The fairly standard 250 sheet paper tray does the trick for most medium level usage requirements, but if upgradable additional paper storage trays are a must you should probably flip sides like Anakin because the MFC-7440N offers no room for additional paper storage.

Disappointingly, the memory is also non upgradable, but Brother has provided 32 MB of built in RAM, which should be sufficient for most applications, considering the digital storage capacity of up to 500 pages worth of data at a time. The beefy little memory chip also allows multiple print and copy jobs at a time, which is an absolute must when utilizing the network feature built in to the hardware, so you wont be worried about stepping on your coworkers toes while printing at high resolutions of up to 2400 X 600 dots per inch. You can even operate two different functions as the same time, such as receiving a fax while making a copy.

Ever wish you could turn a stack of hard copies into a single PDF file without all the hassle? The MFC-7440N has got you covered. Via the automatic page feed and easy to use, dedicated controls, you can automatically scan a large project directly from the printer to a PDF file, or to other destinations such as an e mail. If youre not on a network, these features are still available via a USB connection to a single PC and, if automatic document feeding isnt your thing, take advantage of the versatile scan glass under the open-up flatbed designed top.

Faxing is not a problem via the standard keypad and easy to read LCD screen or, if you prefer, scan directly from your connected PC or Macintosh and use the Windows or Mac OS included drivers to produce faxes straight from your computer to a third party, that way, your destination will receive an immediate hard copy that can even compete with e mail for speed, transmitting at approximately six seconds per page thanks to the 14.4 K bps built in fax modem. Unfortunately, if full color printing is a must for your home office of small business, you should probably look elsewhere because, like the force, the Brother MFC-7440N operates in black and white.
