Who Must be HIPAA Trained
- The Tricare Management Activity component of the Military Health System includes Tricare staff and manages training for all employees whether civilian, military, or contractor. The DoD Health Information Privacy Regulation mandates all TMA staff be HIPAA trained.
How to Access Training
- The TMA Privacy Office merged the Privacy Act and HIPAA training into one course. To complete the course online, go the Military Health System Learning Portal (MHS Learn) to access the course under the MHS Staff Training headline. Access to the training website is limited to DoD computers or those with a DoD or VA access card.
Training Renewal Requirements
- The HIPAA and Privacy Act training must be completed within 30 days of beginning employment with Tricare. Training must be repeated annually during your birth month.
